Speaking Epiphanies

This poetry came to me in a dream. A bit of thunder happened with epic timing while I was recording. Totally kept that in! :P

Not chasing life, just wasting time.
Grounded by all the pain and strife.
When was my prime? Was there a sign?
At what point, did I lose my mind?
So many questions; always seeking answers.
If I could stop asking, do you think I’d feel better?
... and would it last forever?
You said that I'm so clever.
I can handle any weather,
but it was you that made me better,
whether or not we were together.
You always are a part of me, even when we are apart, you see.
Listen to the words I tell you, please.
It doesn't even matter.
Don’t miss the point,
I'm not saying this just to say it.
There is a point, I'm not saying that there isn't.
I drip epiphanies all over the floor, then walk out the door.
If I don’t think you understand me,
I keep walking 'til you can’t see me anymore.
Since when are real connections such a chore?
Anything that's happened,
whatever guilt that's in your heart;
you dont have to hang onto that,
every day's a fresh start.
We don't have to be silenced.
You don’t have to be scared, even though you know I am.
We both know there's no reason to fear.
I hope that this message is clear.
Those things are not who we are.
Whatever happened, it didn't have to push anyone away this far.
It all comes along, it's baggage -
but this weight doesn’t need to exist,
you can put that bag in the attic.
Think about it if you must, but please don’t dwell on it.
That's how we self destruct.
I know things were really tough,
there were eras so depressing, everything was devastatingly rough.
- but look at today, look around you.
How did we get here? Who paved those roads?
Where are we going? I don't know, but it's not where we were.
... and some second chances never actually end;
it's called unconditional, some trust can’t be broken.
I don’t mean take it for granted, I'm sayin' the door is always open.
Listen to the words I tell you, please.
Everything from before... it doesn't even matter!
You can laugh, it's okay! Wear a smile, even in the rain!
Don't make me get cheesy, I know it'll sound insane.
Just remember, when you're worried or it's all too hard,
if all the questions are too heavy on your heart...
Get out of your head, because today is reality and as far as I can see,
all that pain happened yesterday and right now we should be living.
--- and by the way, I'm just as sorry as you are forgiven.
